I am so in love with this cosplay!! This is my first time making "props", or really, anything that isn't fabric-based. Those wings are taller than I am, able to be dissembled and reassembled, and really sturdy! They're made out of chloroplast (think cardboard turned into plastic) and spray painted. I used masking tape and multiple layers of paint to get the patterns, and on the lower wings, I cut out the smaller patterns with an exacto-knife and spray painted them separately before re-inserting them. I'm really happy with how they turned out! I just wish I could come up with a better way of wearing them on my back besides shoulder straps, which both look not-so-great and start to hurt after a few hours despite the light weight of the wings ;_; Any suggestions?? The back-less nature of the dress makes it really hard...
The purple trim around the dress is all hand ruffled - all twelve yards of it! - and because of the white feathers and lacing on the front of the costume, I had to do a lot of hand sewing. I think I learned a lot in making this cosplay, and hopefully I can continue to improve!!
Did you buy this dress or make it? I plan to cosplay as her next!^^
Also for my last cosplay I made butterfly wings, dunno if that will help you with keeping them on [link] >.< It was challenging! The straps I made didn't attach to the back and weren't really visible at all during use.
All made by me! You can read the description for a bit more detail on that.
With lighter/smaller wings, I think that would work, but these guys are really big. I will try a different pattern (Y or backpack/harness) and different material for the straps, but since her dress is strapless and she has an open slit down the front of it, it's pretty hard for the straps to now show up somewhere
Hmm...I will look into that! I considered some sort of harness for a while, especially one I could anchor around my waist, but her dress is open in the front too so the strap would show through backpack might be better!
Nice job! Those are big wings*.* Hmm, I would think the shoulder straps would work, have you tried searching around? I looked, I keep seeing straps, harness @.@
Thanks yuuri~~! The shoulder straps do work - they just start to hurt after a few hours. I would also love to be able to hide the straps so they aren't visible! I wanted to do a harness, but because the dress is backless and has that opening down the middle in the front, I don't know how to do that without having the harness show x.x Maybe I can at least find some other (sturdier?) straps that won't hurt ^^"
But, sorry, What material did you use for the wings? *w*

Oh, I know what you mean about the wings. Hmm.. how about a backpack sort of style for the straps?
Thank youuuu
